COMM 5333G - Theories of Mass Communication (3 Credit Hours) Lecture Contact Hours: 3 Examines the development of mass media systems and the resulting theoretical perspectives. Encourages theory application as means of understanding and explaining what happens to us individually and as members of a society as mass communication became possible and now as media systems are being adapted. Graduate students will be expected to produce a research manuscript with original analysis that includes primary or secondary data suitable for presentation at conferences, emphasizing how the research supports, expands, or contradicts contemporary mass communication theory.
