ENGL 5590G - Studies in African American Literature (3 Credit Hours) Lecture Hours: 1-2 Lab Hours: 0 Thematic approach to African American literature, with emphasis on historical, philosophical, and/or cultural contexts. Topics such as gender, religion, migration, the oral tradition, autobiography, popular culture, rhetoric, civil rights, slavery, sexuality, or literary theory. Graduate students will be given an extra assignment determined by the instructor that undergraduates will not be required to do.
