Secondary Education, B.S.Ed.

Location(s): Statesboro, Armstrong-Savannah

The Secondary Education Bachlor of Science in Eduation program offers initial preparation degrees in the following areas: Biology, Chemistry, English, History, Mathematics, and Physics. This program is designed to support students who are interested in pursuing an initial teacher license. Graduates will be licensed in the concentration of their choice and eligible to teach in grades 6-12. For all concentrations, students must complete 124 hours. This program is offered on both the Statesboro and Armstrong campuses. Each concentration includes the same courses with the exception of a discipline-specific methods class. All students must participate in three semesters of field experience; hours in the field and expectations for teaching increase each semester. The final semester consists of a full-time clinical experience of approximately 600 hours. Most classes in this program are offered in-person; however, field placements are off campus. Two classes in this program (for all concentrations) are offered fully asynchronously. The average class size is 50 students across all three campuses. Students who are enrolled at the Liberty campus typically take classes on the Armstrong campus.

Additionally, this program does offer a non-certification track in all the above mentioned concentrations for individuals who do not wish to purse initial certification.
