ANTH 2131 - World Archaeology (3 Credit Hours) Lecture Contact Hours: 3 This course will introduce the methods and theories used by archaeologists to investigate and interpret the past, and apply them to an overview of the archaeology of the Old and New Worlds. It will examine how archaeology tells us about significant cultural developments in humanity’s past, with a particular focus on the transition to farming, the rise of complex societies, and the development of state level societies. The impact of these transitions on societal and cultural change will also be explored.
