ESED 5130G - Nature and Needs of Gifted and Talented Learners (3 Credit Hours) This course is designed to examine the nature and needs of gifted and talented learners. Candidates will become knowledgeable through research from the field and literature about the history and development of gifted and talented programs, the characteristics of gifted and talented students, and identify varied expressions of advanced aptitudes, skills, creativity, and conceptual understandings characterized by gifted and talented learners. In addition, candidates will examine the role of culture in the manifestation of gifts and talents as well as gifted behaviors in special populations. The course has a required field component for teaching purposes. Graduate students will be provided additional assigned readings and assignments.
