A survey of graphic design history from the advent of the printing press to the present. Students in this course will evaluate the impact of culture and technology on the development of graphic design in different historical contexts. This will be accomplished through discussion of the relation of art and graphic design, techniques of graphic representation, current trends, and the importance of graphic communication in contemporary society.
