Overview
The Department of Biochemistry, Chemistry and Physics offers three undergraduate degree programs, a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) with a major in Biochemistry, a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) with a major in Chemistry, and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) with a major in Physics. The Department also offers a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Applied Physical Science.
The Department provides exceptional instruction and real-world undergraduate and graduate research experiences for its students in the fields of astronomy, biochemistry, chemistry, and physics. Our majors graduate with strong critical thinking and analytical skills that make them successful in virtually any career. Alumni of our programs are in fields such as industry, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, teaching, research, information technology, patent law, and more. Many have even started their own businesses and pursued advanced degrees.
The programs are designed to introduce students to modern laboratory methods and technology using state-of-the-art scientific equipment. The chemistry and biochemistry degree programs are ACS-approved by the American Chemical Society (ACS, acs.org) while the biochemistry program is also accredited by the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB, asbmb.org).
