Department of Mechanical Engineering

Undergraduate

The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) program provides a robust curriculum that emphasizes hands-on learning and real-world application. Students gain expertise in key areas such as engineering design, materials science and processing, engineering mechanics, mechatronics, and thermofluid sciences. The program also offers specialized emphases in Vehicle Design and Testing and Metal Casting, allowing students to tailor their education to specific interests. To enhance professional development, students are encouraged to participate in internships, co-operative education experiences, and faculty-led research projects.

The Mechanical Engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org.

Graduate

The Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) program provides advanced education and research opportunities for students pursuing careers in mechanical engineering. The program integrates cutting-edge technology, interdisciplinary collaboration, and hands-on learning, preparing graduates for leadership roles in industry, government, and academia. The MSME program offers both thesis and non-thesis tracks, allowing students to tailor their studies based on their career goals. Coursework emphasizes theoretical depth, applied research, and professional development in key areas of mechanical engineering. The curriculum covers a broad range of advanced mechanical engineering areas, including: thermal and fluid sciences, materials and manufacturing, robotics and automation, and vehicle and mechanical systems.
