Field of Study Requirements: 18 Credit Hours
Prerequisites to Major Requirements:
Remaining 9 hours of Field of Study may be fulfilled at any time.
Note: Courses with a GFA prefix are 6 credit hours. 3 hours may count toward Field of Study. If taken as part of Field of Study requirements, the remaining 3 hours will count toward general electives.

Major Requirements: 30 Credit Hours
Select 1 of the following courses:
Major Electives: 9 Credit Hours
Choose 9 hours if selecting a minor; otherwise choose 12 hours. Note: GFA Courses are 6-hour courses. Students may take one GFA 6-hour course (3000 level and above) that counts toward major electives. Communication Arts Electives: 6 Credit Hours
Select 6 hours of any 3000+ COMM, COMS, FILM, MMJ, PRCA, or THEA courses for which you have fulfilled prerequisites and/or are concurrently fulfilling co-requisites.
General Electives: 12-15 Credit Hours
Select at least 2 courses in one area of study with Advisor approval. Other Program Requirements
- Students must make a minimum grade of “C” in each Communication Arts class to receive credit for that course.
- A total institution GPA of 2.75 is required to register for internship credit. A maximum of 3 credit hours of internship credit can be applied to major requirements. The deadlines for applying for internships are October 1 for Spring semester, February 1 for Summer semester, and March 1 for the following Fall semester placement. Secure forms and submit the appropriate materials to the Internship Coordinator.
AdvisementUndergraduate Academic Advisement at Georgia Southern is provided to all degree-seeking undergraduate students by professional advisors. Academic Advisors are located on all three Georgia Southern University campuses. Students are required to meet with their assigned Academic Advisor at least once a semester.
