The Bachelor of Arts in music offers students flexibility to craft a personalized curriculum based on their interests and career aspirations through choices of academic minors that support a wide variety of potential career paths, an optional concentration area in the rapidly growing field of music industry, and a generous number of elective credits.

Degree Requirements: 124 Credit Hours

General Requirements (Core IMPACTS): 42 Credit Hours


Additional Requirements: 4 Credit Hours


Additional Upper-Division Music Courses (General degree pathway without a concentration): 7 credit hours


Concentration Area (optional): 20 Credit Hours


In lieu of the general degree pathway, students also may choose to pursue a Music Industry concentration.  This option is only available to students on the Armstrong campus. See below for requirements.

Minor: 15-18 Credit Hours


Complete an academic minor program that fits with your interests and career plans. Some possible minors include: Art History, Communications Studies, Computer Science, Digital Humanities, Entertainment Industry Professions, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Film Studies, Information Technology, International Studies, Management, Multimedia & Film Production, Philosophy, Professional & Technical Writing, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Public Relations, Sociology.

General Electives: 6-22 Credit Hours. This might include a second academic minor.


Students must have a minimum of 39 hours of 3000+ level courses between major requirements and elective courses.
