Software Engineering, B.S.E.E.


Software Engineers creates software systems that drives businesses in every sector of the economy. The Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering (BSSE) prepares students for success in the field by building a solid foundation in the technical and soft skills needed for analyzing, designing, implementing, testing,modifying, optimizing and management of complex software systems.

Degree Requirements: 124 Credit Hours

General Requirements (Core IMPACTS): 42 Credit Hours


Additional Requirements: 4 Credit Hours


Elective Courses for General Degree (No Certificate): 9 Credit Hours


Select three courses from the following:

Certificate: 9 Credit Hours


In lieu of the general degree pathway, students may choose a certificate in one of the following areas:

  • Big Data and Analysis 
  • Cyber & Software Security
  • Game Programming 
  • Mobile Systems

General Electives: 6-7 Credit Hours


  • Carryover from Mathematics and Quantitative Skills and Field of Study
  • Select 4-5 credit hours of General Electives

Total Credit Hours: 124


Certificates


In addition to completing the course requirements for a certificate, in order to receive a certificate, it is necessary to complete the B.S. in Software Engineering degree program. 

Other Program Requirements


  • In addition to completing the course requirements for a certificate, in order to receive a certificate, it is necessary to complete the B.S. in Software Engineering degree program. 
  • A minimum of grade of “C” is required for each CSCI course taken in the major. This applies to all courses (lower and upper division). 

Advisement 

Undergraduate Academic Advisement at Georgia Southern is provided to all degree-seeking undergraduate students by professional advisors. Academic Advisors are located on all three Georgia Southern University campuses. Students are required to meet with their assigned Academic Advisor at least once a semester.
