Graphic Design, B.F.A.

Location(s): Statesboro

The Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art (BFSDoArt) supports the University’s Mission of learner-centered culture to prepare students with the requisite professional practices for successful careers in communication design fields or for students seeking advanced degrees. The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) is a professional undergraduate degree that is accredited by the National Association for Schools of Art and Design.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design prepares students to conceive and design visual communications and systems within a rapidly evolving technological context by providing skills to critically analyze design problems through comprehensive research and arrive at creative solutions using functional knowledge of professional design practices and processes. This degree and associated internships prepare students for professional careers in visual communication fields or graduate school.

To indicate achievement, Bachelor of Fine Arts students in Graphic Design create a body of creative work for exhibition and write a supporting creative brief. These indicate skills and knowledge competency in their communication of creative scholarship. This student-centered degree program mission reflects the University’s mission and values: collaboration, academic excellence, discovery and innovation, openness and inclusion, integrity to promote academic distinction, and student and alumni success in the graphic design profession. The BFA in Graphic Design supports student success by encouraging the free exchange of ideas, creating experiential learning opportunities, and fostering agency in creative scholarship.
