This course examines the culture, society, and global historical significance of the age of Napoleon Bonaparte between 1799-1815. This course investigates French imperialism and French society during the years of Napoleon’s rise at the close of the French Revolution, focusing on developments in French law, culture, issues of race, slavery, and gender. The course also examines how Napoleonic France shaped developments in European, U.S., Haitian, Russian, and Middle Eastern History.
