USGG 1020 - World History Since 1500s (0 Credit Hours) Lecture Hours: 0 Lab Hours: 0 This course will give you an overview of the history of the world from around 1500 to the present. It aims to acquaint you with the major social, cultural, and political developments that make the world what it is today. We will investigate the time when the west (Europe and eventually North America) rose to global military, political, and economic prominence. We seek to explain the initial rise of the west by looking at developments throughout the world. Also, we will strive to understand the shifts in the world that have come out of the western crisis of the twentieth century. Since this course will be taught in London, we will make especial note of the role of England, Britain, and the United Kingdom in the world in the last five hundred years.
