USGG 3006 - Literary Gene: Steampunk (0 Credit Hours) This course is a study of the development and history of a particular literary form, such as narrative, poetry, or drama, through the exploration of representative works. Particular attention is given to the evolution of new strategies for the creation and reception of the genre and to the aesthetic, historical, and cultural conditions that shape those strategies. In this course, we’ll be studying the literary culture of Steampunk. You will read important nineteenth and twentieth century literary works of this widely popular genre. Literary works to be read will range from Frankenstein to Infernal Devices and Steampunk fairy tales.
