Financial Technology (FinTech) Certificate Program


Certificate Requirements: 15 Credit Hours


This certificate program consists of 15 semester hours (5 courses) of undergraduate education designed to prepare students for careers in the financial technology sector. Students may take up to 6 semester hours (2 courses) from the Georgia FinTech Academy (FTA) in meeting the 15-hour requirement. The curriculum encompasses financial modeling, use of software- and web-based platforms for accessing, monitoring and analyzing real-time financial market data, development and use of computer-based systems for supporting decision-making, and the application of data mining techniques within a business context.

Students may choose 3-6 hours from the following five courses:


  • FTA 4001 - Foundations of FinTech
  • FTA 4002 - Financial Technologies
  • FTA 4003 - Commercial Banking in FinTech
  • FTA 4005 - Introduction to Financial Data Analytics
  • FTA 4100 - Introduction to Information Security for FinTech

Total Credit Hours: 15


Certificate Admission Criteria

Admission to the undergraduate Financial Technology (FinTech) certificate program is open to all students of any major or discipline enrolled at Georgia Southern University. Students who wish to complete the certificate must declare their intentions to their Academic Advising Center.

Advisement

Undergraduate Academic Advisement at Georgia Southern is provided to all degree-seeking undergraduate students by professional advisors.
